The Village of Stowe, Vermont

Stowe's Village, with it's steepled white church, historic storefronts and absence of traffic lights, is quintessential New England.

Stowe is able to offer big-city amenities and maintain a quaint Vermont town feel. The businesses and community work together to conserve many of the organic and natural qualities that are associated with our State. Many of the restaurants feature local products and produce, and many lodging properties are certified Green Hotels.

The town of Stowe is nestled in the mountains of northern Vermont approximately 45 minutes south of Burlington which services most major airlines. Home to the highest peak in the state, Mt. Mansfield, Stowe is truly a summer playground famous for its outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain and road biking, horse back riding, rivers and lakes for kayaking, canoeing and swimming, golf, and most importantly, tennis.

The recreation path, a five and a half mile long paved greenway with picnic and swimming areas, begins at Topnotch Resort and Spa and runs through the woods, adjacent to corn fields and farms along the West Brach River, down into the village of Stowe. Fed Cup attendees will have an opportunity to avail themselves of any and all of these many recreational and athletic options which Stowe has to offer.

The town is also home to a thriving artistic community. Visitors can enjoy the many museums and art galleries in the village and sample an incredible array of local wares and products at the local Farmer's Market held on Sundays throughout the summer.

Stowe has a long history with the sport of tennis and its locals have a deep love for the sport. The town has 360 tennis courts, which equates to approximately one court for every eleven people. In addition, the local tennis team has an impressive record, the boy's team has won 4 straight state titles, the girl's team has won 11 out of the last 12 state titles, and over a quarter of the high school student body is on the school's tennis team.

In the 70's and 80's, Stowe and Topnotch Resort and Spa hosted the Head Classic Tennis Tournaments. Jimmy Connors, Brad Gilbert and Ivan Lendl were familiar faces in the town and it is an event and a time that many recall fondly. Stowe is thrilled to rekindle that passion and excitement by hosting the Semifinal Fed Cup Tie.
